Then they look around for the institution responsible for receiving all of this. **Good luck.** - **Religion** may receive the sacred claim. - **Philosophy** may receive the proposition. - **Psychology** may receive the meaning. - **Psychiatry** _may_ receive the crisis. - **Medicine** receives the body. - **Science** receives the empirical claim. - **Law** receives the public consequence. - The **person** receives a collection of office hours and several incompatible intake forms. Modernity did not abolish metaphysics. The old sacred bundle had carried **enormous** power. Some of that power needed to be broken apart. When an inherited authority loosens, people can breathe. They can leave. They can combine traditions. They can recover something an institution suppressed. They can invent practices, languages, identities, communities, and ways of approaching the sacred that would have been impossible inside a tighter system. It could not correct the command. Artificial intelligence makes this problem unusually strange. An older oracle **interrupts**. - A card appears. - A verse is opened. - A lot is cast. - A random word arrives. - The person performs the interpretation. A responsive model can **continue**. - It can explain the sign. - It can remember the vocabulary. - It can name the person. - It can elaborate the mythology. - It can write the ritual. - It can interpret resistance to the ritual. - It can receive the person again after the person has already changed through the previous answer. The user changes the next prompt. The model changes the next user. This is why Sacred Slack refuses two easy answers. - The first laughs at the experience. - The second crowns it. - Neither is good enough. A person should be able to say: > This felt sacred. The room should be capable of answering: > Tell me what happened. Without humiliation. This becomes the constructive half of the book. A person says: - I felt a presence. - That is one kind of statement. They say: - I believe the presence was my grandmother. - That is another. They say: - My grandmother transmitted information nobody alive could have known. - Now the claim has changed again. The experience deserves contact. The interpretation deserves exploration. The factual claim may deserve evidence. Then everyone begins fighting over jurisdiction. - The clinician wants to know about sleep. - The spiritual caregiver wants to know how the tradition understands discernment. - The family remembers what happened last week. - The technologist knows what the model could infer. - The therapist notices what the interpretation is doing inside the person’s life. - The person knows something about the event that none of these instruments can see from outside. - Other affected people may enter when a private interpretation begins assigning them danger, guilt, money, obligation, loss of consent, or public consequence. That is the governing rule. * * * ## The Convergence Door. Today, that person is often asked to perform the first diagnosis themselves. - Choose the right door. - Explain the event in that institution’s vocabulary. - Remove whatever does not fit. - Receive the referral. - Call the next office. - Begin again.
